For renters
How do I add where I live now, or a place I used to rent?+
On your Rental profile, choose Add a rental. Enter the address, the dates and the rent, then ask your landlord to confirm it: they get a link by e-mail and don't need a RentID account. A confirmed rental shows who confirmed it. If your landlord uses RentID, they can also add it to their workspace; once you accept, it's a verified tenancy.
What does "verified tenancy" mean?+
Both you and your landlord said so from your own RentID accounts: they set it up or added it, and you accepted. It isn't a background check, and it doesn't prove who owns the home; a separate ownership badge shows that.
When can I review a landlord or a home?+
Once a verified tenancy has ended, or you've recorded that you moved out, for a year. There's one review per tenancy, and one review of each landlord from your account. The landlord can respond, and either of you can dispute a review that breaks the rules; a person at RentID decides.
Where do my lease, receipts and move-in photos go?+
Documents & photos. Files you share on a tenancy go to your landlord too and stay as you filed them. Private files are only yours. Large photos are shrunk on your phone before upload.
Can I pay rent through RentID?+
Not yet. Record a payment you made (Payments → Report a payment) and your landlord can confirm it. Until they do, it's labeled as reported by you.
Who can see my rental profile?+
Only you, unless you choose to share it when you apply for a home on RentID. RentID doesn't score, screen or sell renters.
Can I ask a landlord about a rental before applying?+
Yes. Open the listing from Find a rental and choose Ask a question. The answer comes to your Messages.
For landlords and property managers
How do I add a tenant?+
Tenants → Add tenant, or Add tenant on a property's page. Invite them by e-mail, or record them without a RentID account: rent, leases and maintenance work either way. A tenancy is verified once the tenant accepts from their own account.
How do I record rent I received outside RentID?+
Record rent: choose the property, then the unit, then the renter, with the date you received it. When a tenant reports a payment, confirm it on Payments; until you do, the month stays past due.
A renter asked me to confirm their rental. What happens if I say yes?+
It shows on their profile as confirmed by you. If you use RentID, the renter appears under Tenants → Renters who asked you to confirm, where you can add it to your workspace; it becomes a verified tenancy when they accept.
How does ownership verification work, and how long does it take?+
Upload a deed, tax statement or similar on the property's Ownership card. A person at RentID checks it against county records, usually within 2 business days, and you're notified of the decision. If it's taking longer, send us a message below.
Where are work orders, expenses and profit and loss?+
Maintenance holds requests and work orders: the booked date, the vendor, the estimate, photos and invoices. Record what a job cost from its Details; other expenses go in Reports, which has a profit and loss for any date range and CSV exports for your accountant.
Can I answer questions from people who don't rent from me yet?+
Yes. Questions about your listings arrive in Messages, marked Prospect. You can also write to anyone who applied, from Applications.
